If you’re more market town chic, wander the nearby gorgeous market town of Cowbridge and its high street of mainly independent shops. You'll find everything from deli foods to gifts, designer clothes and shoes to home and garden accessories - and more. Turn down a cobbled alleyway leading off the High Street and you'll find it opens up into Verity's Court, a stone courtyard full of local makers' handcrafted wares.
You can't beat our sister café, The Penny Farthing for brunch, drinks, tea, coffee and to-die-for cakes and our other place in Cowbridge, The Bear - a quintessential pub and former coaching inn that dates back to the 12th Century. Local coastal walks
You don’t have to go far for too many walks to choose from! Take on part of the Wales Coastal Path along the Glamorgan Heritage Coast and explore castles, churches, pubs and even a lighthouse along the way. Or take your pick from every type of beach - choose from sandy stretches, rocky coves and secluded bays.

Our wonderful local nature reserves include Merthyr Mawr Warren National Nature Reserve whose sand dunes are the second largest in the world and featured in the 1960s film Lawrence of Arabia just ten minutes' drive away.
Merthyr Mawr village has picture postcard thatched cottages, free-roaming peacocks and wobbly bridge.
Book a seasonal outdoor sauna in nearby Candleston Woods and commune with nature from a traditional Lithuanian wood-fired sauna and hot tub, which serene views that are just made for autumn.
There are dunes, too, at Kenfig National Nature Reserve, just 15 minutes away, with spectacular views across Swansea Bay to the Gower.

Local countryside walks
For countryside walking with amazing views, you can take your pick of three stunning valleys – the Llynfi, Garw and Ogmore rivers’ valleys is stunning. For a gentler stroll, wander among the 100 acres of meadows, gardens and woodland of Bryngarw Country Park. Part of the National Forest of Wales, look out for kingfishers and check out their Japanese Garden as well as regular events.
