An overview

Coed y Mwstwr is a charming Victorian mansion set in a leafy, wooded hillside with far-reaching views across the verdant rolling pastures of the Vale of Glamorgan and beyond to the north Devon coast. It began life in 1888 as a bustling family home to liberal MP Arthur John WiIliams and his wife, Rose.

Today, we offer a tranquil respite from busy life. Step inside and a warm Welsh welcome awaits, with relaxed, contemporary interiors and sometimes, the odd dog or two*.

Our name means ‘the noisy wood’ – and awakening with the gentle sounds of the forest offers an enchanting start to the day. The wood itself features in Arthurian legend and a short wander is all you’ll need to feel the magic.

We’re in a great spot for exploring town, country and coast – or you could just stay put and relax with a big fire, a few cocktails, imaginative modern Welsh cuisine, or an afternoon tea with friends.

*if you’d like to bring this important family member with you, please let us know, we love to receive furry visitors.
